Meet Our Dance Teachers in Perth

Behind every great dance class is an inspiring teacher. At Kalamunda Performers, we’re fortunate to have some of Perth’s best dance teachers guiding our students. Our teaching team brings together a wealth of experience, credentials, and heart – all dedicated to helping each dancer shine.

Our Principal Teachers:

Breanne Lucas

(Principal Teacher & Co-Director):

Breanne (Bre) Lucas is a passionate and dedicated dance educator known for her ability to connect with students of all ages and guide them on their dance journey. As Co-Principal of Kalamunda Performers, Bre brings warmth, creativity, and a strong commitment to mentoring the next generation of dancers.

With extensive training across all genres of dance and formal qualifications in both the ATDI and ATOD syllabi, Bre’s approach balances strong technical foundations with a deep love for performance. Her choreography has received numerous awards, and she has worked on flash mobs, halftime entertainment, and theatrical productions across Western Australia.

Bre is especially passionate about creating an inclusive and supportive environment where every dancer feels valued—whether they’re dancing recreationally or striving for a professional career. Her greatest joy comes from watching her students grow in confidence, creativity, and self-belief, both in and out of the studio.

Michelle Ginbey

(Principal Teacher & Co-Director):

Miss Michelle co-founded KP alongside her now-retired sister Angela, bringing her strong background in tap, jazz, and classical dance to the studio. After travelling and gaining life experience, she returned to Perth and joined forces with Angela to help build what is now a thriving and inclusive dance community.

Affectionately known as the “toddler whisperer,” Michelle is adored by the tiny dancers in our Ready Set Move classes. Her warmth, patience, and gentle approach make her a favourite among our youngest students, helping them feel safe, supported, and excited to move.

These days, Michelle is also the friendly face you’ll most often see at reception—managing studio administration, supporting families, and keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes. Her connection with students and families alike is at the heart of what makes KP feel like home.

Our Coordinators

At KP, we’re proud to have an incredible team of leaders behind the scenes who bring passion, organisation, and heart to everything they do. Two standout members of our faculty are Jemma Jacobs and Shanice Thompson, who play vital roles in shaping the success of our programs.

Jemma Jacobs

Ready Set Dance Coordinator

Jemma is the driving force behind our Ready Set Dance program and an exceptional leader within our preschool team. With boundless enthusiasm and a genuine love for early childhood development, Jemma creates a magical and nurturing environment for our littlest dancers. Her dedication was recognised nationally when she was awarded a Gold Teacher Award at the annual Ready Set Dance Awards—an achievement we are incredibly proud of. We owe much of the program’s success to Jemma’s passion, creativity, and commitment to excellence.

Shanice Thompson

Competition Team Coordinator

Shanice leads our competition teams with outstanding care and attention. As our Competition Team Coordinator, she manages troupe classes, private lessons, and schedules while mentoring emerging choreographers and performers. Her organisational skills are matched by her talent and passion as a teacher and choreographer. Shanice inspires our dancers to reach their full potential—both on and off the stage—and plays a key role in the growth and success of our competition program.

Our Teachers

Every teacher at KP shares a common goal: to inspire and nurture every dancer that walks through our doors. We hold regular staff meetings and training to stay on top of the latest teaching methods and ensure we’re delivering the best for our students. More importantly, our teachers genuinely care. They’ll celebrate your child’s successes, big or small, and work with them through challenges – all while making class an enjoyable experience.

We’re often told by parents that our staff feels like an extended family. We love that, because it means our passion and care are coming through in what we do.

Come meet us in person! If you’re considering joining, we invite you to drop by the studio or contact us – we’d be happy to tell you more about our teachers’ backgrounds and even let you observe a class.
