At Kalamunda Performers, our musical theatre students learn to light up the stage with show-stopping confidence. Each class integrates dance moves, vocal training, and acting exercises in a fun, creative environment.
Students learn lively dance numbers reminiscent of Broadway shows. Basic jazz dance is often incorporated, along with character-driven movements (think of dances from shows like Annie or Hamilton!).
We explore musical theatre songs, teaching proper breathing and vocal technique. Kids get to practice singing solo lines and as an ensemble, building their vocal confidence.
Through drama games, skits, and character exercises, students learn to portray different characters and express emotions on cue. We might practice short scenes or monologues and learn how to act out a song’s story.
The real fun is putting it all together. By the end of term, students often can perform a short piece that involves dancing, singing, and acting simultaneously – just like a real musical!
Musical theatre is fantastic for improving stage presence and confidence. We welcome kids and teens of all experience levels – no need to have prior singing or acting training.
Many of our musical theatre kids also take acting, jazz or tap classes, since those styles often feature in musical numbers. But it’s not required; students can grow all three skills together in this class.
From classic show tunes to modern hits, our musical theatre program keeps things fresh and exciting. It’s a great outlet for dramatic kiddos (and a wonderful way for shy ones to come out of their shell, too)!
